Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How private brokerage works, what it costs, and how we protect both sides of a transaction. If your question isn't here, a broker will answer it directly.
What is Nostalgix?
A private brokerage for high-end collectibles. We place pieces that never reach a public marketplace or an auction block, representing buyers and sellers on deals that stay between the parties involved. One senior broker carries the transaction from the first conversation through settlement.
What kinds of collectibles do you broker?
Trading card games including Pokémon, comics and comic art, video games, manga and manga art, animation and illustration art, sports and non-sports cards, scripts, movie posters, magazines, and pulps. We also place memorabilia, rare books, fine art, and coins. Items are graded and certified where a standard exists, and independently authenticated where one doesn't.
Is there a minimum item value?
We work on items from $20,000 up. There is no ceiling — individual pieces have changed hands well into the seven figures.
What does it cost, and who pays?
The seller pays 10%, and that covers the full brokerage service. Buyers pay nothing. No hidden fees on either side.
Why sell privately instead of at auction?
Auctions serve a real purpose, but not always at the high end. Sellers take on unpredictable final prices. Buyers struggle to move quickly on a piece they have waited years for. And a public sale puts your business in front of everyone. A private deal removes all three.
How does the escrow process work?
Funds are deposited into a secure escrow account before anything moves. The item is authenticated, graded, and condition-verified. Funds are released to the seller only on buyer confirmation. Neither party assumes risk until all conditions are met, and every transaction is tracked, auditable, and insured.
How are buyers matched with items?
Against your want list, not guesswork — scored on budget, category, grade, and recency. The technology does the searching; a broker does the judging. Every match is broker-approved before it reaches you, so what you see is a short vetted shortlist rather than a feed.
How do you keep buyers and sellers anonymous?
Every client gets a unique alias, and communications use aliases only. Neither side learns who the other is unless both parties explicitly consent, and any reveal is audited. Your identity never influences the deal or the price.
How are items authenticated?
Through CGC, PSA, CBCS, and independent experts, depending on the piece. Every item is vetted before it is listed. Nothing trades without verification.
Do I have to ship my item?
Your broker works with both sides to settle on the right approach for the piece. Vaulted items can change ownership without moving at all — we partner with Guardian Vault for climate-controlled, fully insured storage (68°F, 45% humidity) under 24/7 monitoring. For the highest-value pieces, we offer personal delivery.
How long does a transaction take?
Most close in 7 to 30 days, not months. Great deals don't need to take forever.
How do I become a client?
Tell us what you're looking to buy or sell. Every inquiry is read personally by a senior broker, and you'll hear back within 24 hours. Once you're approved, we send a link to your client portal.
